The amount of specialty coffee shops in Buenos Aires is an insurmountable number to conquer. So Im trying to limit this post to only Palermo....but that doesn't really help that much. Palermo is so massive, so I'll talk about the coffee shops I like to work remote from that have a good environment.
Walking around Palermo has been incredibly safe and easy so I wouldn't worry about walking to any of these shops, as we've happily walked 30-45 minutes many times. Which also means this list covers spots all around the different sections of Palermo.
Getting an uber or taxi is super simple too. If you get a taxi, ensure they use the meter and know the name of the street and address you are going.
The order isn't specific here and we all have our own preferences for coffee shops for remote work, so try and few and let us know what you think!
Seating:
It took us a few weeks to find Hobby Cafe, but once we got there, we fell in love. The massive garage door that opens to the street keeps fresh air moving through the cafe all day, but still nice and cool.
They have options for indoor and outdoor seating and their wifi works great in either place. We've really loved their big wood community table that sits ~10-12 people, has a few outlets right on the top and makes it easy to keep devices charged.
Noise:
4/10 this is a spot I would be comfortable making a call from
Food & Drink:
They have a good amount of food options like a delicious Salmon salad, Salmon & white bean toast, avocado & sweet pea toast, fresh baked cookies, nice coffee options hot/cold and lemonade, tea and of course other pastries, a few sandwiches and more.
Seating:
Dingo is a great place to hang out with a view out on Plaza de los Imigrantes, you aren't just looking up at other buildings like many other places. They have a variety of seating options and one of the larger capacities of places on the list. I really enjoy upstairs with the big open air feel that keeps you inside and in the shade, but feeling the fresh breeze on your face.
Noise:
3/10 another place I'd be OK making a call from. It does depend on where you sit though as downstairs or the street may be noiser than upstairs
Food & Drink:
They have my favorite Chai Latte so far (although I heard there's another contender will try soon and add to the list if so), their iced coffee and flat white are also really nice.
The food at Dingo is awesome! They use an outside bakery that knows what they are doing crafting artisanal croissants, medialunas, bread, gluten-free options and delicious potato buns. Lately we've thoroughly enjoyed the Salmon bagel, Chicken Sandwich, Hamburger, Avocado toast and eggs benny.
We've got more to try, but this is definitely a spot we are happy to sit at for hours on end.
Seating:
Doxa is a smaller space with a handful of indoor bar seats, but they have my favorite outdoor seating setup. It's got a shaded section that has seating for 10-12 in benches at tables of 4, and a couple bar stools. It also has power outlets for easy charging outside and speakers typically playing some fun hip-hop. They also have some outside seats at tables. This is a nice spot tucked away on the back side of the zoo.
Noise:
7/10 the outdoor seating is right on the street, so busses are coming by frequently and are pretty noisy. This probably wouldn't be my recommendation for a day of phone calls.
Food & Drink:
They have some nice coffee options with some freshly imported coffee from Colombia and other small batch producers. They also have some delicious wines they offer for later in the day, or earlier too. 🍷 The food menu is smaller here but they have some good ingredients and quick service. I'm a big fan of their Green Detox juice made out of a bunch of goodies and their lemonade that comes in a nice big wine glass and feels pretty snazzy.
Full City Coffee House (Thames 1535)
Seating:
An abundance of seating here, we've found ourselves hiding out upstairs the last few times we've been which is nice. But you can also head outside in their back/side area which is a nice space.
Noise:
5/10 definitely not the noisiest place we've been. Depending on where you sit, this could absolutely be a good place for a phone call. I would recommend upstairs in the back section.
Food & Drink:
We've only had drinks here, not a lot of non-coffee options. But the food looks good. Part of the reason we've been hanging here is because it's right next to La Cabrera who has one of the best happy hours in the city at an awesome steakhouse. So we like to campout, get our name on the happy hour list and go back to work...so we have saved our appetite. But people love the coffee and have good things to say about the food as well.
Seating:
One of the larger indoor seating options for folks, giving a wide range of tables inside, with a lot of power outlets along the walls to make it easy to charge and get work done. We like to hang out on the bench on the right side when you walk in. There's also outdoor seating here, but it's not my favorite for sitting and working on a computer. Great to hangout and chat though!
Noise:
8/10 they are usually pretty busy and playing some music. Not my first place I'd go for a phone call.
Food & Drink:
There's a really nice selection of food options here as well as a small market of goods like wines and candles. They have our favorite Greek Yogurt so far (if you can't tell already we like to eat the same things most places). The yogurt is thick and comes with fresh fruit and some yummy granola. Their chipa and chipa sandwiches are nice as well as a delicious Avocado Toast with scrambled eggs.
Sarah really likes their lavender latte and I'll usually get a kombucha or juice.
Seating:
Super small cafe, only a handful of seats inside and outside. I wouldn't plan an entire workday here, but it's a great place to go and get an hour or two of serious work done.
Noise:
4/10 very quiet and good space to work, but being so small making a call here...if you're loud like me...might be very disturbing to everyone else.
Food & Drink:
I had a really nice pot of tea here that I drank for an hour or so while I was working that I really enjoyed. They also have a smaller food menu, but some good looking sandwiches and other offerings.
Rosedal Cafe (Godoy Cruz 2905)
Seating:
This space is huge. Definitely the largest on the list with tables all over the inside and a bunch of benches along the edges with tables that can easily be combined for 1 person or 8.
Noise:
6/10 being a big space, when things get busy around 4-7 the noise level goes up. As I mentioned in my Coffee Shops in Mendoza post, paying attention the time you schedule calls if you're planning to make them at a coffee shop is important in Argentina, especially in Buenos Aires.
Food & Drink:
Massive selection of food and drinks here. They have a lot of different salad options, cakes, croissants, pastries and more. Definitely something for everyone here, the ingredients aren't going to be the most farm-to-table you've had due to the scale but they've got everything. They also have a handful of nice gluten free options.
Borja Cafe X Cande Molfese (Republica de la India 2895)
Seating:
The location (1 of 3) we went to hda a few seats inside with a nice variety of tables and bar seats as well as a handful of outdoor seats in a nice covered section on the street.
Noise:
8/10 if sitting outside otherwise 5/10 inside.
Food & Drink:
We ate a nice chipa here. Had some delicious coffee and lemonade as well. Their breakfast options looked good but we weren't too hungry during out time at Borja. Liked the vibe and feel on the inside.
